AMDS™ Open Surgery Dissection Stent

The AMDS™ (Ascyrus Medical Dissection Stent) is the world’s first dissection-specific remodeling device, revolutionizing the surgical treatment of Acute DeBakey Type I aortic dissection. Deployed as an adjunct to standard ascending aortic replacement, this uncovered stent supports the aortic arch and descending aorta from within to expand the true lumen and stabilize the vessel wall.

Overview: The AMDS™ (Ascyrus Medical Dissection Stent) is the world’s first dissection-specific remodeling device, revolutionizing the surgical treatment of Acute DeBakey Type I aortic dissection. Deployed as an adjunct to standard ascending aortic replacement, this uncovered stent supports the aortic arch and descending aorta from within to expand the true lumen and stabilize the vessel wall.

Technological Innovations:

PTFE Felt Cuff: Strengthens the anastomosis between the conventional dacron graft and the aorta, reducing suture line stress and supporting friable tissue.

Uncovered Nitinol Wire Braid Stent: Stabilizes the aortic wall without obstructing flow to supra-aortic branches (brachiocephalic vessels).

DANE Prevention: Designed to prevent the formation of Distal Anastomotic New Entry (DANE) tears at the vulnerable anastomosis site.

Clinical Advantages & Research: According to 2nd-year results from the PERSEVERE US IDE trial (presented in 2026), the rate of DANE tears was 0% in patients treated with AMDS. Data also shows a 94% survival rate from lesion-related death and a significant increase in false lumen thrombosis, a key indicator of positive aortic remodeling.
